How Study Hub handles information
Study Hub collects only the account, learning, class, and billing-status information needed to provide student practice, parent dashboards, digital libraries, and Study Circles.
Information collected
- Account details such as email address, display name, username, and student or parent account type.
- Learning activity such as study sets, answers, scores, progress, and skill areas that need more practice.
- School and class information supplied by users or imported with permission from Google Classroom.
- Files and text intentionally uploaded for study-set generation, course collaboration, or a private digital library.
- Parent-link requests and approvals, class membership, and collaboration activity.
- Subscription status and Stripe customer or subscription identifiers. Study Hub does not receive or store full payment-card numbers.
How information is used
Information is used to authenticate users, create personalized practice, organize course materials, display progress, support approved parent dashboards, maintain subscriptions, prevent abuse, and operate the service. Study materials may be processed by the OpenAI API to generate practice questions and feedback.
Google Classroom
Google Classroom access is optional and individually authorized by the user. It uses read-only permissions for that user's courses, coursework, and coursework materials. Study Hub stores an encrypted refresh token so the user can request future synchronization. A district administrator may globally approve the OAuth application, but the administrator does not manage Study Hub accounts or receive access to student Study Hub content through this connection. Users can disconnect from Study Hub or revoke access from their Google Account permissions.
Disconnecting or revoking access prevents future imports. Materials already copied into Study Hub remain until the user removes them or deletes their Study Hub account. If Google invalidates the authorization, Study Hub clears the stored refresh token and does not import additional Classroom content until the user reconnects.
Service providers
Study Hub uses Cloudflare-hosted Sites, D1, and R2 for application hosting, records, and private files; Supabase for authentication; Stripe for subscription checkout and billing; Google for optional Classroom integration; and OpenAI for study-material processing and practice generation. Each provider processes information under its own security and privacy terms.
Sharing and advertising
Study Hub does not sell student information and does not use student information for targeted advertising. Information is shared only with service providers needed to operate the service, with approved members of a Study Circle, with a parent after the student accepts the link, or when required by law.
Retention and deletion
Disconnecting Google Classroom does not delete materials already copied into Study Hub. A user's account-deletion request permanently removes the user's profile, study sets, class materials, answers, progress, uploads, library items, Classroom connection, parent links, subscription record, and associated account data. Limited operational records may be retained when necessary for security, billing, dispute resolution, or legal obligations. Account-access, correction, and deletion requests may be sent to privacy@studyhubstudent.com.
Student and child privacy
Study Hub is designed for student use with appropriate parent, guardian, or school authorization. Use by children under 13 requires that authorization and may be limited by a school or district review. Schools should evaluate the service under their FERPA, COPPA, records-retention, accessibility, and acceptable-use requirements before district-wide adoption. Parent dashboards are view-only and require the student to approve each parent connection.
AI processing
New submissions, uploaded documents and images, supported audio transcripts, imported Classroom text, and generated study content may be sent to the OpenAI API for automated student-content screening, in addition to processing requested practice. Names and other user-facing text are checked, but passwords, authentication tokens, and payment details are excluded from content screening. Study Hub does not use student content to train a Study Hub model. AI-generated questions and feedback are study aids and should be reviewed by the student, family, or educator as appropriate.
