District review packet
Study Hub school review brief
A concise application supplement for school technology, privacy, curriculum, accessibility, and procurement reviewers. This page is written for the Leander Independent School District review process and can be reused by other districts.
Requested district action
Study Hub requests permission for individual students or other authorized users to connect their own Google Classroom accounts through Google OAuth. The requested district action is limited to globally approving the Study Hub OAuth application for district users. LISD administrators are not asked to create Study Hub accounts, manage student connections, or receive access to student Study Hub content.
Google Classroom authorization
Each user must separately sign in to Google and approve the connection. Study Hub requests:
- openid and email to identify the authorizing account.
- classroom.courses.readonly to identify the user's active courses.
- classroom.coursework.me.readonly to read the authorizing user's relevant coursework.
- classroom.courseworkmaterials.readonly to read course materials available to that user.
Study Hub does not request permission to edit, submit, grade, invite users, manage courses, or administer the district Google Workspace environment.
Data lifecycle controls
- User disconnects: the refresh token is cleared, the connection is marked inactive, and no new Classroom content is imported. Materials already copied into Study Hub remain available under normal Study Hub ownership and class controls.
- Google administrator revokes the application: the next synchronization attempt detects the invalid authorization, clears the stored token, marks the connection inactive, and imports no additional content until the user reconnects.
- User deletes Study Hub: the account-deletion workflow permanently removes the user profile, practice data, answers, progress, uploads, library items, Classroom connection, parent links, subscription record, and associated account data, subject to limited legal or operational records described in the Privacy Notice.
Student privacy and authorization
Study Hub does not sell student information or use student information for targeted advertising. Student-created content is private unless deliberately shared with an approved Study Circle. Parent dashboards are view-only and require student approval. Use by children under 13 requires appropriate parent, guardian, or school authorization; LISD may impose grade-band or parent-permission restrictions through its review.
AI processing
When a user asks Study Hub to generate practice, the selected notes, files, or class material may be sent to the OpenAI API for that generation. Study Hub does not use student content to train a Study Hub model. AI-generated questions and feedback are study aids and do not replace teacher judgment, official grades, accommodations, or curriculum requirements.
Security and incident response
Study Hub uses HTTPS/TLS, secure HTTP-only authentication cookies, owner and class-membership authorization checks, private file storage, encrypted Google refresh tokens, signed billing webhooks, security headers, and no-store controls for authenticated API responses. Suspected vulnerabilities can be reported to security@studyhubstudent.com. Suspected privacy or student-data incidents can be reported to privacy@studyhubstudent.com; Study Hub will coordinate notice and remediation according to applicable law and any executed district agreement.
Accessibility and support
Study Hub is designed for keyboard navigation, responsive use, readable text, labeled controls, and common assistive technologies. Study Hub is working toward WCAG 2.1 AA conformance and welcomes accessibility issues at support@studyhubstudent.com. See the accessibility statement for the current support process.
District pilot and billing
Study Hub can provision controlled complimentary access for an approved school pilot without requiring students to enter payment information. Student billing is not required for the requested Google Classroom authorization. Any district-paid deployment, purchase, or contractual use remains subject to LISD procurement and agreement requirements.
Recommended Linewize classification
Study Hub is a K-12 study and academic-practice service. The closest Linewize classification is Information and Reference / Education. Because Study Hub uses AI to turn student-selected materials into practice questions, Linewize may also identify it as AI Tools. Classification and access are ultimately controlled by each district's Linewize policies.
Category and policy test
- In Linewize Filter, open Filtering / Content Filtering / Category Search.
- Search for both studyhubstudent.com and www.studyhubstudent.com.
- Confirm the assigned Theme, Category, and any Signature.
- Use Test Policy with a representative student account to identify the exact rule producing a block.
- If the category is incorrect or unclassified, request a Linewize category review for Education.
Required browser destinations
- Core application: studyhubstudent.com and www.studyhubstudent.com
- Optional Google Classroom connection: accounts.google.com
- Subscription checkout and billing: checkout.stripe.com and billing.stripe.com
The application's own records, file storage, AI generation requests, Classroom data synchronization, and authentication-provider calls are handled server-to-server. Student browsers do not need direct access to those infrastructure endpoints for normal Study Hub use.
Compatibility status
- Valid HTTPS and active certificates on the apex and www domains.
- Permanent redirect from www to the canonical apex domain.
- Public landing, privacy, terms, security, accessibility, and district-review pages available without authentication.
- Search-engine crawling allowed for public review pages while private API routes are excluded.
- No third-party advertising, analytics, social-media widgets, or tracking scripts on the public landing page.
- Strong transport, framing, content-type, referrer, browser-permission, and content-security headers.
